Short answer: install Syncer on your Mac and your Android phone, sign in, and pair them. Copies on your Mac appear on the Syncer keyboard on your phone; phone copies reach your Mac with one tap — end-to-end encrypted.
The problem
Mac users with an iPhone get Universal Clipboard for free. With an Android phone, there's nothing built in — so you end up emailing links to yourself, or retyping a code from one screen to the other. Syncer gives your Mac and your Android phone one clipboard, and on the Mac your recent clips are a ⌘⇧C away.
How to sync your clipboard between Android and Mac
- Install Syncer on both devices. Syncer for Android and Syncer for Mac — both free.
- Sign in with the same account on both. A quick email sign-in tells Syncer which devices are yours. No password to remember.
- Pair the second device. Scan the QR code or enter the 6-digit code, then approve it from the first device. You can compare the safety fingerprint on both screens to rule out an impostor.
- Turn on the Syncer keyboard on your Android. The app walks you through adding it. From then on your synced clips sit right on the keyboard in any app — Messages, WhatsApp, Gmail, a browser, a login form.
- Copy on one, paste on the other. That's it — the clip arrives over a live connection, usually before you've switched devices.
Android → computer takes a tap. Android 10 and later stop apps from reading the clipboard in the background, so a copy made on your phone goes out when you tap Sync in Syncer or on the Syncer keyboard. Computer → Android needs nothing: the clip is waiting on the Syncer keyboard.
Text today. Syncer syncs text — links, codes, commands, addresses, notes. Image and screenshot sync is planned, not shipped.
End-to-end encrypted, so we can't read your clipboard
- Sealed on your device. Every clip is encrypted with XChaCha20-Poly1305 under a clipboard key that only your paired devices hold — before it ever leaves the device you copied on.
- Signal-verified pairing. Syncer uses the Signal Protocol to verify each new device and hand your clipboard key over safely. New devices need explicit approval from one you already trust, and you can revoke any device instantly.
- A relay that only sees ciphertext. Our servers pass along sealed blobs they have no key to open, and delete each one the moment your device fetches it. Anything unfetched expires within 7 days.
- Passwords stay put. Passwords and anything your OS or password manager marks sensitive are never synced — they stay on the device you copied them on.
- Backups only you can open. Optional backups are sealed with a key derived from your PIN using Argon2id and encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Your PIN never leaves your device.

Questions
Does Universal Clipboard work with Android?
No. Apple's Universal Clipboard only works between Apple devices. Syncer gives a Mac and an Android phone a shared, end-to-end encrypted clipboard.
How do I paste on Android what I copied on my Mac?
Copy on your Mac as usual. On your Android phone, switch to the Syncer keyboard in any app and tap the clip — it's pasted at your cursor.
Does it work across different networks?
Yes. Your Mac and phone don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi; Syncer works over any internet connection.
